Keeping Real Estate Real

Ted wants to keep real estate real. And after 18 years with Windermere, he has found the best way to do that is to follow two simple principles:

    1. Know your people

    1. Know your stuff

Getting to know people is Ted’s favorite part of the job.  He wants to know what gets you excited and what drives you nuts. Essentially, he wants to know what’s important to you.

“Not everyone enters this process with the same goals.” Ted says. “Initial meetings are important and I learn a lot through them, but I learn the most when I see how people engage a home.  Whether it’s a seller touring me through their own home or buyers taking a look at a stranger’s property, watching people interact with houses tells me far more than an interview could on its own.”

Ted also wants his people to know their stuff. His drive to stay on top of the latest trends, stats, and legal issues isn’t for his own sake. Staying in front of things gives him the ability to equip his clients to make educated, confident decisions throughout their buying and selling processes as well.

But it’s not all technical know how, legalities and hustle.  Ted likes to keep things fun.

“You really get to know people when you start laughing together.  Laughter helps people to open up.  And the more people open up the more I can understand about what is really important to them.  Honestly, joking around is one of the most important and professional things I do to help people get to where they want to be.  It also means we usually have a pretty good time while we're at it!"

Experience

Ted has represented clients in a myriad of situations over the years. He's helped people buy and sell homes of various types and in various situations, including:

  • Single Family Homes
  • Family Estates
  • Green Built New Construction
  • Condos & Coops
  • Short Sales/Bank Owned
  • Challenging Fixers
  • Multi-Family

And though Ted works primarily in the Seattle area he has had the pleasure of helping folks everywhere from Lynnwood to Kent and from the Eastside to Port Orchard.

More importantly, Ted has worked with various kinds of people.  And while most of the time this is the absolute best part of the job, there are times where the person on the other side of the table isn't exactly easy to work with.  Ted's cool demeanor and creativity has served his client's well in these situations.  Ted says "There is almost always a solution to the problems that come up during transactions. You can only find them if you stay calm and cooperate.  Sometimes it's a client's best interest for a transaction to fall apart but it should never be because of something as avoidable as hard feelings caused by disrespect."

Thankfully those situations are few and far between but it's nice to know that when they do come up, you'll be working with someone who's been through the fire and knows how to get to the other side of it.

Reputation

Though awards aren't very important to Ted, it is worth noting that he has been recognized as a "5 Star Real Estate Agent", continuously, for well over a decade.

He is also highly regarded by his colleagues and has been chosen to represent them as a:

  • Standards of Practice Representative (council that guides Windermere's in-city offices in advancing integrity and consistency in business practices)
  • Windermere Technology Council Representative
  • Senior Advisor (Agent representative in shaping office policy, culture, charitable endeavors and community relations)

Most importantly, Ted is loved by his clients! But don't take our word for it.  Take a look at what people have taken the time to say on Zillow.

About Ted

Ted is a Washington state native and has lived in the Seattle area since 1995. He has been with Windermere since 2003. Outside of real estate he is the husband of an incredible woman named Sarah and the proud father of two teenagers who, dispite their age, still like to attack him. He enjoys his family, playing sports, admiring art, road trips, playing guitar, cringe worthy jokes and eating cheeseburgers.

Says Ted: "Thanks for getting to know me a bit here. I look forward to getting to know you and helping you reach your real estate goals."
